At Saints Peter and Paul, we believe that participation in sports not only improves physical health but also plays a positive role in youth development, including Christian virtue, academic achievement, self-esteem, and sportsmanship. Youth sports places student athletes in a team environment which helps them develop many traits they will need in everyday life. While allowing for the team’s success and healthy competition, each student athlete can reach their individual potential and develop lifetime skills that are integral to their development. We form our students to compete in a Christ-like manner.
The athletic program is classified in two leagues. The Widget league is for 3rd and 4th graders. This league allows younger student athletes to begin their athletic learning in an organized and safe environment. The other league that is offered is for 5th through 8th graders. This league is governed by the Catholic School Athletic League (CSAL) to continue their athletic endeavors in a more developed league through the years.
Saints Peter and Paul athletic program is a member of the Archdiocese of Denver Catholic Schools Athletic League (CSAL) and abides by its rules and regulations. The Catholic School Athletic League is a well-balanced and supportive league which emphasizes the concepts of instructional training, serving student athletes and parents/guardians while incorporating the all-important tenants of reason, religion, and kindness.
Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School partners with Play Like A Champion Today (PLACT). The Play Like A Champion Today Character Education Through Sports Initiative is a national coach and parent educational series designed specifically to elevate Catholic school sports programs. It is a research-based, child-centered curriculum designed to assist parents of young athletes to help their child connect God, faith and sports. Parent and coach workshops and clinics are available through this program. All parents must attend this program when their child has reached 5th grade before students can participate in school sports.
Athletics are an important part of the student experience at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic School. For a full schedule of athletic events and maps please visit www.csalden.org.
